United States spy satellites have detected the North Korean military loading two anti-ship cruise missiles onto a boat on the east side of the country, according to a new report.
Fox News cites U.S. officials who said the reclusive nation is continuing its aggressive military moves despite U.S. and UN warnings not to.
“North Korea is not showing any evidence it plans to halt its missile tests,” an unnamed U.S. official told Fox News. “It’s a trend that does not bode well for hopes of de-escalating tensions on the [Korean] peninsula.”
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Monday at a regional security forum in Manila the U.S. government is willing to talk with North Korea, but only if it halts its missile tests.
“The best signal that North Korea can give us that they are prepared to talk would be to stop these missile launches,” he said.
Monday’s development regarding the cruise missiles could signify another missile test is forthcoming, or it could mean the country is shoring up its defenses.
