President Donald Trump Monday launched a Twitter attack on the “fake news,” accusing the media of lying about the “tremendous success” that he and his administration has achieved and once again declaring the “fake news media” as the “enemy of the people.”
“With all of the success that our Country is having, including the just released jobs numbers which are off the charts, the Fake News & totally dishonest Media concerning me and my presidency has never been worse,” he tweeted.
“Many have become crazed lunatics who have given up on the TRUTH!”
He continued that “the Fake News will knowingly lie and demean in order make the tremendous success of the Trump Administration, and me, look as bad as possible,” and accused outlets of using “non-existent sources” to write “total fiction.”
“The Fake News Media in our Country is the real Opposition Party,” he said. “It is truly the Enemy of the People! We must bring honesty back to journalism and reporting!”
Earlier on Monday, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough accused Vice President Mike Pence of lying about a “crisis” on the nation’s southern border, saying statistics don’t back up claims made by Trump about immigrants trying to come into the United States illegally, reports Raw Story.
“Mike Pence (was) lying through his teeth last week, and Mike Pence knows he was lying through his teeth last week when he talked about the crisis at the sudden border, this caravan, this invasion of illegal immigrants,” Scarborough said. “The number has gone down steadily over the past decade.”
