Trump Calls for Voter ID in Any Election Security Bill

Challenging Democrats to put their emphasis on election security to the test, President Donald Trump called for voter identification requirements in any election security legislation.

President Trump tweeted:

“No debate on Election Security should go forward without first agreeing that Voter ID (Identification) must play a very strong part in any final agreement. Without Voter ID, it is all so meaningless!”

Trump has long fought back at criticism he lost the 2016 popular vote because off illegals having been allowed to vote.

Trump tweeted just weeks after his Electoral College victory over Hillary Clinton in November 2016

“In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally.”

The Democratic-controlled House has passed two election security bills, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has yet to permit the bills to come up for debate. The bills require paper ballots to avoid hacking electronic votes and would require candidates by law to report potential foreign election meddling.

Sen. McConnell rejected the House Democrats’ efforts as moving “partisan legislation.”

“Clearly this request is not a serious effort to make a law,” McConnell said, per The Hill.

“Clearly something so partisan that it only received one single solitary Republican vote in the House is not going to travel through the Senate by unanimous consent.”

  1. I think that we as voters should show IS and that we should prove we are US citizens. When I worked for the City government and people were signing up to vote, we were not allowed to ask if they were citizens and a lot of them couldn’t even speak English and could barely understand what I was asking.

    1. I agree with you, Helen, 100%! And common sense says that the only people who would object to presenting ID, are those who are here illegally. But then we know that common sense is not so common any longer — especially with the vacuous liberals!!

  2. ABSOLUTELY, everyone should be properly identified with photo ID and citizenship. Without this there will NEVER be any certainty that we “have a government duly elected by its citizens.” We as citizens, as well as, our constitution gives us the right to insist on who will govern us. No other country would permit voting without ID to occur and if it did, it would indicate that it is not a government elected by its people. Resistance by the democrats is a clear display of their fear that they could not win a election without the vote of non-citizens, and their promotion of open borders is their way of “buying” the election.

  3. Once again, our President is right. People need picture ID’s for virtually everything. Try boarding a plane or entering a Federal building anywhere w/o ID. It’s not happening. So, the only rational reason for not wanting an ID requirement before one casts a vote is so there can be the possibility of voter fraud — voting more than once or representing yourself as a deceased person or casting votes in more than one precinct. I don’t buy the idea that poor people can’t come up with an ID or that they are being put upon by having to produce an ID. No ID, no voting. Simple as that.

  4. I support Vote by mail as used by CO, OR, WA and the US Military. Prepaid ballots sent to every registered voter. Voter ID system that is similar to the one used in Mexico.

  5. President Trump just called the Democrat’s bluff. I don’t see the Democrats being able to put that in a good bill.
Here is the Democrats bill: Illegals vote, felons vote, Russian immigrants can’t vote because they corrupt elections, all socialist country residents can vote, Pelosi, Nadler, and Ocasa can vote. President Trump can’t vote. All Mexicans, Quadimalians, Hondurus, residents can vote.
    Registered Republicans can’t vote.
With this bill the Democrats have a chance at winning again.
