It has been an incredibly sad, less than 24 hours for Christian and Jewish people who simply wanted to pray and worship God.
And it has also been a microcosm of what separates conservative states from Democrat states when it comes to self-defense.
In Monsey, New York a man, 37-year-old Grafton Thomas from Greenwood Lake, New York, went into a Hasidic rabbi’s home and stabbed five people with a machete on Saturday night.
“This is terrorism, it is domestic terrorism,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. “These are people who intend to create mass harm, mass violence, generate fear based on race, color, creed.”
There has been a recent rash of black people attacking Jewish people in New York and it appears to be increasing.
And in White Settlement, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth, a man went into a church and murdered one parishioner and critically wounded another but was stopped by an armed guard before he could do more damage, Reuters reported.
Two people were killed and a third was in critical condition after a shooting on Sunday at a church in the suburbs of Fort Worth, Texas, local authorities said.
The Fort Worth Fire Department said three people, including the person who they believed to be the shooter, were transported from the scene in critical condition.
The scene was secure, they added. Two of the people died while en route to the hospital, and the third person was successfully resuscitated by paramedics, according to Macara Trusty, a spokeswoman for local emergency services MedStar.
Two more people sustained minor injuries as they ducked for cover inside the church, she said. It was unclear if the shooter was one of the two who died.
The incident took place in White Settlement, a suburb northwest of Fort Worth, at the West Freeway Church of Christ.
A witness told a local CBS affiliate that a man armed with a shotgun walked up to a server during communion and opened fire, before being shot by a person attending the service.
“Our hearts go out to the victims and families of those killed in the evil act of violence that occurred at the West Freeway Church of Christ,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement.
“Places of worship are meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life.”
The shooting was captured on video as the church service was apparently being streamed on YouTube, according to the New York Daily News.
“You feel like your life is flashing before you. I was so worried about my little one,” witness Isabel Arreola told CBS 11.
What separates these two incidents is that the victims in the Democrat state of New York had to fight their attacker with chairs as worshipper after worshipper was stabbed.
In Texas, a conservative state, the attacker was shot and killed, ending what could have been a more deadly rampage.
No gun laws are going to protect people from the evil that exists in this world, but our God given right of self-defense could.
Democrats believe that somehow rendering victims defenseless is going to stop crime. It will not.
Every citizen should demand that their right to self-defense and right to bear arms be protected because gun laws never stop criminals.
